The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), both within the Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice, have announced the FY25 Adult Treatment Court Program Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and the FY25 Family Treatment Court Program NOFO, respectively.
The BJA FY25 Adult Treatment Court Program supports the implementation and enhancement of adult treatment court operations. Adult treatment courts integrate substance use disorder treatment, mandatory drug testing, incentives and sanctions, and transitional services in a judicially supervised criminal court setting that has jurisdiction over individuals with substance use disorders. These courts aim to reduce recidivism and overdose fatalities while increasing access to treatment and recovery support that leads to long-term recovery.
Eligible adult treatment court types include adult drug courts, impaired driving (e.g., DWI) treatment courts, co-occurring courts, and tribal healing to wellness courts. More information on eligibility for each category can be found on pages 7-11 of the NOFO.

About the Program
The BJA Adult Treatment Court Program is designed to support adult treatment courts in the following categories. The anticipated period of performance for each category is 48 months.
The OJJDP FY25 Family Treatment Court Program supports state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to establish new, enhance existing, or implement statewide or countywide family treatment courts to ensure the provision of substance use treatment and other services that improve child, parent, and family outcomes. Family treatment court grantees will provide services that address the entire family’s needs, including direct services to children of parents served in this program. Applicant proposals must specifically include the provision of treatment, recovery, and other support services that address opioid, stimulant, and other substance use reduction.
